Stockman of the Year
Following on from their individual success in the Senior Stockman of the Year competition at South West Area where they placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th, Lottie Hill, Beth Williams, Zoe Stanbury and Grace Whitcombe all headed to Staffordshire County Showground and Harper Adams University for the National Stockman of the Year Final.
They all had to complete a Herd Health and Management plan project ahead of the weekend. Interviews were then held where they had to discuss their submitted projects with judges. All competitors also had to do a Veterinary task with a Vet where they were given different scenarios to work out and also identify different items used by veterinary and other industry professionals.
They also had an excellent standard of stock to judge throughout the four rings of six. An incredible achievement for Somerset to have four senior members representing the county as well as being the South West Area representatives at a National Final, well done ladies!
In the Junior Stockman of the Year competition, Grace W proudly represented Somerset YFC and SWA. Grace had to complete a Veterinary questionnaire, a meat identification challenge, and judged four rings of high quality stock during the day. An excellent experience and opportunity for Grace, showing her face at another National Final!
We are incredibly proud of our 5(!) Somerset representatives 🤩
